Tuesday – French Dips
Wednesday – Turkey left overs
Thursday – Chicken soup
Friday – Homemade Pizza’s
Saturday – Family Christmas Party
Sunday – Beefy Tomato Rice Skillet

Next week’s menu is going to be just as good. You’ll have to make sure you stop by to see what we’re having.

Menu Monday: November 14

This week we’re having a new recipe and my boys and hubby are very much looking forward to it. A few weeks ago we went to KFC and they had potato and chicken bowls. They enjoyed them so much that we decided to try our hand at making them ourselves. I hope they turn out better than the ones you get at KFC. :)

Here is our menu list for this week.

Monday – Baked Spaghetti
Tuesday – Potato & Chicken bowl
Wednesday – Meatloaf
Thursday – Baked Chicken
Friday – Take out
Saturday – Pizza
Sunday – Fried Chicken

I think next week we’ll try home made chicken noodle soup. I have a coupon for the noodles and we have some chicken broth left from the potato soup from last week, so we might as well use it up. So what’s on your menu list for the week?

Menu Monday: November 7

Fall is here and that means colder weather. In Wyoming, this is the time of year where we get snow and colder temps. This is a good time of year for me because my boys tend to enjoy warm things. LOL

Here is our menu list for this week.

Monday – Junction burgers (hamburgers with cheese and ham)
Tuesday – Potato Soup
Wednesday – Chef Salads
Thursday – Waffles
Friday – Sheppard’s Pie
Saturday – Turkey Melts
Sunday – Meatloaf

There are several new things on our menu that I’m really looking forward to trying. They’re recipes we have had in the past, so I’m really looking forward to eating them again. So what’s on your menu list for the week?

Menu Monday: July 25

It’s Monday again and I hope you had a wonderful weekend. My cousin got married over the weekend and his wedding was so cute and typical of both of them. LOL

Here is what’s on our menu for the week.

Monday – Nacho’s
Tuesday – Chef Salad
Wednesday – Homemade pizza’s
Thursday – BBQ hamburgers
Friday – French Dips
Saturday – Dorito Casserole
Sunday – Turkey biscuits

As you may know my family doesn’t do well in the heat so I must come up with meals that are not only cool, but that don’t require using the oven too much. While that’s not entirely possible, I do what I can to make it happen. I also look at the weather to decide which days to have those that do require the oven. When you’re in the middle of summer cooler days are hard to come by, but I do my best to make it happen.

Here’s to a great week; one that’s productive and that goes quickly so the weekend comes upon us again.

Menu Monday: July 18

Today is Menu Monday and the start to a new week. I’ll tell you what it’s hard to come back to reality when you had such a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Oh well, it is what it is. LOL

Here is our menu for the week. It’s nothing special but most of it had to do with items on sale at the store this week and things we had in the house already.

Monday – French Dips and chips
Tuesday – Taco’s
Wednesday – Sheppard’s pie
Thursday – Sloppy Joes and french fries
Friday – Breakfast burritos
Saturday – dinner at the wedding reception
Sunday – BBQ Chicken and rice

These meals are pretty quick and most of them won’t require the stove to be on for too long if it’s on at all. Gotta love that when it’s 90 degrees outside. :)

Menu Monday: July 11

Today is Monday and we’re back from camping. We had a blast while we were there and we caught eight fish total. Now that we’re back it’s time to dig into this week’s menu and decide how we’re going to plan it all out.

Here is what we have on the menu for this week.

Monday – Lasagna
Tuesday – Breakfast burritos
Wednesday – Subs
Thursday – Sloppy Joes
Friday – BBQ Hamburgers
Saturday – BBQ Chicken
Sunday – Pizza

We’re planning on going camping again this weekend as our anniversary is on Sunday. We’re excited to go, but haven’t quite made the decision yet. We were going to go to Riverton, but they are experiencing blooding so I think that’s out of the question. It’s ok though, we’ll find another place to go that we’ll enjoy just the same.

Menu Monday: July 4

Today is the 4th of July and at the end of the week we’re going to go to the lake for the weekend. In the summer Kevin and the boys struggle to eat hot foods so we continually try to make foods that are cold or that can be cooked outside and not too hot. So here is our menu for the week.

Monday – Meatloaf
Tuesday – BBQ Chicken
Wednesday – Nacho’s
Thursday – Homemade Subs
Friday – Pizza
Saturday – BBQ Hamburgers
Sunday – Taco’s

What are your meal plans for the summer? I’m always looking for recipes that don’t require the oven. Share what you have below.

Menu Monday: March 28

This is the final week of the regular basketball season for Josh’s. He has a game on Tuesday and practice the rest of the week. They’re preparing for the tournament next week.

Next week brings the tournament and track so it’s going to be a busy couple of weeks and months to say the least. LOL

Here is our meal list for the week. They’re pretty simple due to the games and practices but that’s ok. Sometimes it’s nice to have those.

Monday – Dorito Casserole
Tuesday – Taco’s
Wednesday – Bakes spaghetti
Thursday – BBQ chicken
Friday – Bacon cheeseburgers
Saturday – Patty melt
Sunday – Turkey dips

So what do you have on the list for dinners this week? Please share with us in the comments below.

Menu Monday – January 24

It’s Monday again and that means Menu Monday. Trying to decide what to have can be a struggle. Let me ask you a question. Do you set your menu and stick to it each week or do you have a list of meals and you choose day to day what you’re going to prepare?

Here’s our list for the week.

Monday – Chicken Fettuccine
Tuesday – Chef Salads
Wednesday – Bacon Hashbrown Bake
Thursday – Taco Casserole
Friday – Eat out (grocery shopping day)
Saturday – Loaded baked potatoes
Sunday – Homemade Pizza

How often to you repeat meals you prepare for your family? For a while we were repeating some of the meals a couple times a month. The down side to that is you become tired of the meal quickly and that’s not good.

Grocery Shopping and a savings

I have tried to do the coupon thing and checking ad prices from other stores, but the problem I run into is time. It takes a lot of time to go through and print coupons for everything I’m going to purchase. It also takes a lot of time to put the items that are priced differently into another cart and then deal with it at the check out lane. In Casper Walmart requires you to show them the item in each ad before they give you the lower price.

While I know this is the way to go, it’s very difficult. I decided to try something a little different two weeks ago. It worked really well and I figure I saved approximately $35. I was so happy with it, that I decided to try it again. This time I figure I saved $44.

So here is my little secret. I’m hoping to continue this streak and make it even bigger each time.

My secret is a little one, but when you save between $35 and $44 at the store, it’s huge.

My secret was the meals I planned. I looked at the items we had left over and planned my meals around that food. Out of the 13 meals I planned, six meals we completely had the stuff needed and four of the meals only needed one or two things.

I was so proud of myself over this. It’s something I had heard of people doing, but never thought to try and do myself. I really got the idea from Jenn’s blog. You can check it out here. I’m wondering how it will go in two weeks when we go again. I already have one meal that will be complete with nothing needed and one meal that will only require cubed steaks. We’re off to a great start so we’ll see if I can work on more. I’m wondering if at some point my food bill will go up a little so I can stock pile on things so I can do this again. I guess the coming weeks will tell.

If you need to save money on your grocery bill using coupons, store ads, and planning meals around food you already have are the three ways I suggest. You can work all three together or try them separately. Once you find something that works, stick to it.
