Christmas Decorating with the Boys!!

Christmas is a great time of year for everyone, but it’s the best for children. I love putting the tree up, decorating it and putting decorations up throughout the house. It makes the house look beautiful and cheery. Now that I have kids there is something different about the decorations. Our boys are 15 and 13, so they’re old enough to do the decorating themselves and that is awesome to watch. I love to see what they think because in my eyes it’s perfect no matter what they do.

This year we put our tree up on Friday afternoon because Chris had to work. The family room and living room look awesome. They did a great job!

Saturday morning Kevin, Chris, and Josh went to my mother-in-laws house to help her put up her village. They did an awesome job as you can see in the picture below.

Saturday afternoon Josh went to my mom’s house to help her, my niece Shai, and my nephew Caalab decorate the tree and house. Chris had to work so he was not able to go. They did a great job there too as you can see from the pictures.

I love this time of year and when I see my boys doing what they think is perfect, it’s even better. My boys make this time of year awesome and I’m so glad God gave them to me. Love you Kevin, Chris, and Josh!!

Proud Parents

My oldest is almost 16 years old and I’m so proud of him. He has become quite the young man. He works hard and good things come his way. He has always been this way and I pray he will always be this way because it’s a wonderful trait.

Chris got a job on October 29th and he’s doing such a great job so far. He’s working as a dishwasher at a restaurant here and town. Since he’s only 15 that’s about the only thing he can do, but they’re already talking about what he’ll be able to do when he turns 16 in February. They can’t wait for it to happen and neither can he. LOL

Chris got his first pay check on Friday and he was VERY happy when he got it because it was more than what he was expecting. Kevin calculated it and we told him it was lower, just to be safe. Now that he knows the calculations, he’ll be able to get it closer so he’ll have a better idea.

Chris is saving his money to purchase a transmission for his car. He needs to save $150 each check in order to have enough money before his birthday. With the hours he’s getting so far, that won’t be a problem. He’s loving his car and that’s wonder. He’s paid for everything himself and that’s awesome in our eyes.

We’re so proud of you Chris. Keep up the hard work as it will pay off each time!

Many Visitors to our Camp Site

We had a number of visitors to our camp site over the weekend. Some were people and some were friendly animals. We had quite a few birds, squirrels, and deer that stopped by at one time or another. It was nice to see them stop by to see what we were doing.

The sounds mother nature gave to each of her animals is beyond me, but they are so peaceful and beautiful at the same time. I truly enjoyed listening to them and trying to figure out what animal was making that sound. The one that amazed me the most was the sound a squirrel would make. I would never have thought it would have made the sound it made. LOL

One of the most beautiful animals that stopped by would have to be the deer in this picture. He stopped to pose for Chris just so he could take the picture. It turned out perfectly and Chris did an outstanding job with it. Thanks for taking it Chris.

Now it’s about Chris

During that same camping trip I mentioned yesterday, I could just tell my oldest wanted to have a blog post written about him too. He didn’t flat come out and say it, but a mom just knows. Hehehe

This post is all about my oldest son Chris. He’s 15 years old and he’s a wonderful kid. He was born three weeks early but the doctor did a gestational age test on him and he was actually two weeks late. He’s been a big boy all of his life but that hasn’t stopped him from doing what he enjoys. He loves to play football and basketball. He also likes track but had to stop due to a back injury.

He’s a very busy kid. He lifts weights and works out with the football team three days a week during the summer. He does a lot of work for a very nice lady down the street, he’s learned to long board (that’s a long skate board), and he enjoys being with his friends. He’s always on the go, but is a typical teenager in that he sleeps a good portion of the day away. LOL

He’s very helpful and strong which makes it nice when we need something heavy moved. He’s always willing to help no matter what you need or want him to do. Those are wonderful qualities that any mom would be proud to say her child has and it makes me happy to say my son has them. :) I love you Chris!

Happy Birthday Christopher Todd

Chris today is your birthday and we’re so proud of you and everything you have accomplished. Today you are 15 years old and we can’t believe the time has come. We still remember the day you were born like it was yesterday. Now you may think that’s silly but it’s so true. We will remember that day forever. It was special and we were excited to see you and hold you.

You know my special story and it’s one I remind you about every year. I was the first great grandchild born on my dad’s side of the family. I happened to be born on my great grandmother’s birthday and that was so special. When you came along you were the first great grandchild to my dad’s mom and once again the tradition carried on and you were born on her birthday. That’s special to me as well.

Now you’re in high school, you have good grades, you’re on the football team, and you’re turning into a wonderful young man. We love spending time with you, watching you play sports, and now we get to add one more thing to the list of things we’re privileged to watch you do and that would be driving. We know you’ll be a good driver and we can’t wait to have you drive us around town. :)

Chris, dad and I love you so much and we’re so proud of you and everything you’ve accomplished. We look forward to the coming years, watching you play football and everything else you plan to do. We look forward to your driving years as well. We’re proud of you and we love you buddy. Happy Birthday!!

Tell me Thursday – December 30

Yesterday I posted a picture of my oldest son Chris playing in his first home game of the basketball season. It was great to watch and I look forward to watching more. He did an awesome layup and scored on that. He also assisted in two more scores during the game. It was awesome!

Just in case you missed the picture, here it is again.

Tell me Thursday – 4/8/10

My Wordless Wednesday post goes along with my Wednesday video. Chris is taking swimming lessons and is doing very well. This picture is of Chris acting like a dolphin. He had a lot of fun in the water today.

Wordless Wednesday – 4/7/10

Swimming classes

Chris has been in swimming lessons since March 15th and he is having a good time. He’s learning a lot and he’s getting rid of his bad habits. Last week his instructor taught him to dive and he loved it. He’s decided that he might want to be on the dive team next year instead of the swim team. Sounds like he might be able to do both, so we’ll see.

Here is a video of Chris diving today. He did a great job and I can’t wait to see him do it again on Wednesday. Great job Chris!

Wyoming Cav’s game

We went to the Cav’s game last night. Chris worked the game and we watched it from the stands. It was a fun time for us. The Cav’s won 48-46 in overtime.

Chris was the equipment assistant to the Cav’s team last night. He helped set up the locker room and then clean up after it was over. In exchange he got into the game for free and had the best seats. He stood next to the Cav’s team and cheered them on. He was just a little ways down from the table that was knocked over during a play.

It was a very exciting game and one that made you sit on the edge of your seat. With seconds left on the clock the Cav’s scored and took the game into overtime. We won the game after we scored and got the 2 extra points.

Josh and Kevin convinced me to do a game with Josh. So we went on the field shortly after the 3rd quarter started. We had to ride a trike around 4 cones. I started and then Josh went after I was finished. Needless to say I didn’t do very good with it. I was worried about falling over on the corners so I went slow. I guess the announcer kept calling me ma’am and kept telling me I had to hurry. LOL! I had a player and the coach that were in my way so I had to go around them and the cones.

Josh did really well after he got past the first turn. He got off track and almost ran into the wall. It was a lot of fun and we’re glad we did it. For the time we spent on the field, they gave us McDonald’s shirts and two gift cards for free meals. Worth the time and embarrassment.

Here’s a picture for you to enjoy.

Way to go Cav’s players. We look forward to the game on Friday. Good luck!
