College Time will be here Soon

Scholarships are a must when your children plan to go to college. The fees are $5000+ per semester depending on the school your child plans to go to and the type of degree they want when they’re done. Most people don’t have $20000+ for schooling, so the only way their children can attend college is for them to get a scholarship to cover the costs.

My oldest son is going to be a junior in high school next month and he’s talking about college already. While it’s hard to believe and doesn’t seem possible, it is coming and it’s coming fast, so we’re preparing now for this time to come. Our son knows scholarships are the only way it’s going to happen. While there are thousands of scholarships for him to choose from, it’s impossible for him to know every single scholarship that’s available.

College is a fun time for kids. It gives them the ability to grow up, yet have fun at the same time. Most know they need to do good so they can graduate and get a job in their field. It’s hard for parents to let go, but it’s also great to sit back and watch your child step up to the next level and grow a little more.

While I’m nervous at that stage and I’m glad I have two more years to go, I’m excited for it to happen and I can’t wait. I also know scholarships are the only way to go and when that senior year hits, I’m going to look for help in locating the best scholarships for our son so he has enough to have everything paid for each semester.

A Car to Play with each Day

You work hard all day to earn money to pay the bills and support your family. When you work hard like that playing is what makes everything better. You can play with 4 wheelers, dirt bikes, boats or if you’re really into it, you can play with fast cars. When you have the speed you can get the adrenaline going and you forget about everything for a minute. If you have a need for speed or for the adrenaline, check out this awesome car I found!

Big Plans for Father’s Day Weekend

Father’s Day weekend is coming up this weekend and we’re taking Kevin camping on the mountain. We gave him the choice as to where he wanted to go and that’s where he chose. We’re all very excited about going, so it’s going to be a great weekend. We’re going to go up as soon as Chris gets done with school on Friday and we’ll come back on Sunday afternoon.

I’m going to do my best to come up with meals I can cook so Kevin doesn’t have to cook at all since it’s his weekend. Usually he ends up cooking breakfast and dinner because we seem to come up with meals I’m not good at cooking. I don’t want him to have to do that unless he wants to, so it’ll be better if we can do things I know how to cook.

We’ve gone to the lake for the last two weekends and it will be nice to go to the mountain. It’s quiet up there and he’s not so hot, so that’ll be nice too. I just checked the weather and while anything can change, it says it will be between 70 and 80 degrees. That means it’ll be somewhere between 60 and 70 degrees. How nice!

I sure hope Kevin enjoys the weekend and I hope it’s nice and relaxing for him!

Cute Picture of our Dogs

We have two dogs and it’s the funniest thing, but they’re like best friends. There is almost two years between and we’ve only had the little one for a few months. The bigger one is Katy and she’s a Border Collie. The smaller one is Molly and she’s a long haired Dachshund.

This is a picture I took of them a few days ago and I just had to share. They were both sleeping and Molly got up and moved over to where Katy was so they could be together. I think Molly did that because she was cold. We had the A/C going and it was a little chilly in the house. LOL

They’re entertaining to watch too. They play together and at times can get pretty wild. The sounds they make are funny and how they play is just too cute.

Sometimes I wonder how we got a long without them. I’m so glad we have them to keep us laughing.

Check out this Awesome Site!

When you have children, getting them to wear glasses can be a chore in and of itself. Sometimes they’ll cooperate and wear them like they should, while other times you might as well forget it. They may get called names or people may laugh at them because they have to wear them. While there is nothing you can do about it, when you purchase glasses that are cool and in style, it’s a lot better.

I remember when I was in 6th grade and I had to wear them. My glasses were only to read so it was a little better, but I still hated them. I got called 4 eyes and many other names that I’ve since forgotten. Obviously the names didn’t hurt me, but if I could have had the types of glasses they have now, things would have been so much better. LOL

I found a website that offers so many different styles of eyeglasses. Some of these glasses have blue-green color to them while others have red, yellow, or purple colors to them. It’s amazing to me all the different colors and this site lets you search by the color which is even better. You can look for your favorite color and then choose a style from there. It’s awesome!!

This site also has awesome gold interlocking circle of life necklaces and the most awesome Italian wedge sandals. Prices are reasonable and the selection is amazing. No matter if you have a shoe fetish or your daughter has one, you’re going to find the perfect jewelry or shoes to go with just about any outfit you could come up with.

If you haven’t been to yet, you have got to check it out. They have everything you could image and then some. I know I’ll be going there for my next purchase. The savings alone is enough for me!

It’s More than Just TV

Family time is very important, but it’s hard to find the time to make it happen when the kids are always on the go or you’re busy with a job and other obligations. You must take advantage of it while you can, because they’ll be out of the house before you know it.

Playing games, family outings, and cooking together are just a few of the things you can do together. Each of these things can be done together and don’t take much time at all to set up and get started. You’ll find laughing and talking will happen while you’re together.

Another way to be together is to watch television. You’ll find shows you can learn from and movies that are perfect for children of all ages. It’s another perfect way to be together. I’ve been doing research on this very idea and I ran across Direct TV. There options are really good and the price is even better. As a family of four and with growing boys, we need to save where we can and I found this might just be a way to make it happen.

During the research I was doing I found a lot of options when it comes to TV, but I didn’t find as many channels to choose from and when you have kids you need options. The DX3 Direct TV options are amazing because not only do they give you different packages to choose from but they also give you dollar amount options too. It’s perfect because you can make the right choice depending on your channel needs and budget concerns.

If you’re looking for ways to spend time with your family and you’re considering the options you have when it comes to movies and family TV shows, you need to consider DX3. Their prices are reasonable and the channel choices are great.

Summer Camps are Fun!

After a long school year, there’s nothing better than having a fun time at camp. Whether you go to a camp that lasts all summer or if you go to one that lasts for a few days, they can be so much fun.

There are so many different camps for teenagers to attend. For the boys you may have football camps, baseball camps, and other types of camps that are geared toward activities teenage boys enjoy. The best thing to do is search online for what your teenage boy enjoys and see what you can find for them to do during the summer.

Now for the girls you’ll find camps to help them build friendships, softball camps, and other camps they would enjoy. While I don’t have girls, I did do some research and I found a camp that’s for sure to be enjoyed by teenage girls. They offer modeling, photography, and fashion design to name a few. What teenage girl wouldn’t want to do one of the Miami Summer Camps I found online?

If you’re child worked really hard this school year and you’re ready to reward them with a camp they’ll enjoy, make sure you go online to see what you can find that would match their needs and wants. The stories you’ll hear when they return will be remembered for a lifetime!

The Author of this post is Rolando Dickerson

My oldest son is obsessed with R.L. Stine. For those of you that have been living under a rock, he is the writer of the Goosebumps series. My son has easily read just about every Goosebumps book that has been released. Well a friend of his informs my son that there is a Goosebumps T.V. show. I knew this already. I watched them when I was younger, but never shared this information with my son because we didn’t have the channel that Goosebumps is aired on. My son quickly jets to the T.V. with his new found knowledge and searches for his show. Only to find that, like I said, we don’t have it. He was heartbroken to say the least. He was so ready to see his favorite books played out. Well no worries, I went to and got a package that included the channel we needed. My son was ecstatic. We now have a scary family night where Goosebumps is the main attraction. We turn the lights down low, grab the popcorn, and cuddle on the couch.

An Awesome Track Meet for Josh!

Josh had his first track meet of the season last Saturday and needless to say he did an outstanding job. Kevin and I were so happy to see his improvement and it was so exciting to watch him run.

We were so excited when we found the website that shared the results of the meet, so we wanted to share them with you as well. Can you say proud parents????

The first event of the day was the 100 meter dash. This is a quick and short race with no time to think about what you’re doing. This is a great race for Josh because he’s quick off the line. He placed 12th overall out of 50 racers, so that’s awesome.

The next event for Josh was the 4×400 relay race. Now this is a relay where there are four people on the team. Each runner has 400 meters to run before they hand the baton off to the next person. It tasks a lot of practice to make this work because you have to hand off correctly, you have to receive correctly, and you’re limited on the distance you can travel before the hand off occurs. Josh’s team took 2nd place overall out of six teams.

The third event Josh did was the 200 meter dash. This is another one of those races where you don’t have time to think. It’s a dash from beginning to end, so it’s another good one for Josh. He placed 9th overall out of 42 racers.

The final race of the day was the 4×100 relay race. This one is a lot like the 4×400 relay race except each runner does 100 meters. So it’s a very fast race and certainly doesn’t take long to complete. In this relay race Josh’s team took 4th out of eight teams.

Needless to say Josh had an outstanding track meet last Saturday. Each time he gets better and he’s hoping to go to the Best of the Best in May. That meet is by invitation only and it’s an honor for those that are invited. It’s a great goal to set and one that Kevin and I pray Josh can achieve.

Tell me Thursday – April 19

Yesterday I posted the cutest picture of our dogs. In the picture you’ll see two dogs. The larger one is Katy and she’s a Border Collie. The smaller one is Molly and she’s a Dachshund. Even though they are much different in type and size, they are best friends. They just love each other and show it all the time.

They play together, horse around, eat together, and as you can tell, they sleep together. They’re very entertaining and will keep you entertained for hours with the things they do.

Just in case you missed the picture, here it is again.
