Tournament Week, Day Two

Today was day two of the tournament and it was a wonderful end to the day. Josh’s team won and they are headed to the championship game. They play tomorrow afternoon at 3:45 pm. This game will determine 1st and 2nd place.

Josh has had a wonderful season and we’re so proud of him. He’s made scores, he’s assisted in scores and steals, and he’s rebounded. He’s learned so much since the season started and it’s been amazing to watch. He’s grown up and he’s picked up on plays that are brand new to him.

Tomorrow is the day they’ve worked so hard for, tomorrow is the day they’ve been waiting for since February. Tomorrow is the end of the season and it will be sad, but at the same time it will be happy because they’ll know they’ve worked their hardest to get to where they are and it’s all paying off.

So tonight I want to say congratulations to the Centennial #1 “B” team. You guys have worked hard and it shows. We’re looking forward to the championship game and we can’t wait for the game.

A Perfect Start to the Tournament Week

Today was Josh’s first tournament game. The tournament starts out as a single elimination and then goes to a double if you win the first game.

Josh’s team ended the regular season with a record of 5 and 1. Not bad at all. Each of the games were very close and ranged from a win by two to a win by seven and then a loss of five. It was a wonderful regular season.

Now we’re in the tournament and it’s off to a great start. Josh’s team won tonight’s game and they’re moving on to the next game. It will be played on Thursday and we’re very excited to go.

Here are a few pictures from the regular season.

Yay We Made it to Friday!

I’m thankful it’s Friday as it’s been a long week. I’m looking forward to this evening though. We’re going to the Cav’s game. The Cav’s are the indoor football team for Casper and they are so much fun to watch.

The games are very fast paced and exciting. They really get the crowd involved and that makes it even more fun. The boys enjoy going because they throw things into the stands and they enjoy trying to catch them.

Some people may not think this is a good way to spend quality time together as a family, but it is for us. We need to do what we can to spend time with our boys and if football games are it then that’s what we do. We enjoy cheering on the team and being together.

I’m not sure what the weekend will bring, but the weather on Saturday is supposed to be really nice. It’s supposed to be in the upper 60’s and possibly 70. Yay! Bring on the nice weather. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday Christopher Todd

Chris today is your birthday and we’re so proud of you and everything you have accomplished. Today you are 15 years old and we can’t believe the time has come. We still remember the day you were born like it was yesterday. Now you may think that’s silly but it’s so true. We will remember that day forever. It was special and we were excited to see you and hold you.

You know my special story and it’s one I remind you about every year. I was the first great grandchild born on my dad’s side of the family. I happened to be born on my great grandmother’s birthday and that was so special. When you came along you were the first great grandchild to my dad’s mom and once again the tradition carried on and you were born on her birthday. That’s special to me as well.

Now you’re in high school, you have good grades, you’re on the football team, and you’re turning into a wonderful young man. We love spending time with you, watching you play sports, and now we get to add one more thing to the list of things we’re privileged to watch you do and that would be driving. We know you’ll be a good driver and we can’t wait to have you drive us around town. :)

Chris, dad and I love you so much and we’re so proud of you and everything you’ve accomplished. We look forward to the coming years, watching you play football and everything else you plan to do. We look forward to your driving years as well. We’re proud of you and we love you buddy. Happy Birthday!!

Super Bowl Sunday

Today is Super Bowl Sunday and we’ll have a celebration at church this morning. After service we have a cake auction and then a chili dinner. This has been something we’ve done for a number of years and it’s a lot of fun.

The cake auction is the most fun. People in the congregation bring home made cakes to church and we pay ridicules prices for these cakes. This is the time when people donate to the youth group and children’s church. Some of these cakes will go for several hundred dollars.

The chili dinner is a great time to fellowship with others and eat great food. We have all the fixins including cheese, onions, Frito’s, and salad to number a few. There are so many different types of chili that people bring and it’s all great.

Chris decided he wanted to make the cake we’d take this year. So we let him have full run of the cake and he had fun. The cake turned out wonderfully and I’ve included a picture of it below.

Well I hope you all enjoy the game later today. Great job on the cake today Chris. I just love it!

Winter Wonder Slam ’11

Our boys are going to a Christian concert on Tuesday and they are very excited about it. They’re going with the youth group and they have told us the bands are really good. I’m a little nervous about it, but I’m also at ease with it since two of my cousins are going.

They are going to the Winter Wonder Slam ’11 TobyMac with Brandon Heath and House of Heroes with six other people so I’m sure they’ll have a blast. I’m excited that they are going to such a wonderful concert. I’m sure the Christian music will be wonderful and they’ll come back home with excitement and a wonderful feeling.

I hope and pray you both have a great time!

4 Tips for Protecting your Children when they Use the Internet

The internet is a valuable tool for many reasons. It gives you the ability to search for things you need to know, you’ll be able to find directions to a vacation site, and you’ll be able to learn new things. While those are all good things, we never seem to think about the bad things online and what we need to do to protect our children while they use the internet.

What you may not think about when it comes to the internet is the strangers out there looking to find kids that will trust them and then want to meet them. You may not think about the pornography that’s online as well. The other thing you may not think about is the gambling sites that are pretty easy for a child to get in and start playing.

So the important question is, how do you protect your children from this terrible, yet important tool? Here are a few suggestions for you to consider.

1. Set parental restrictions on your computer. Most computers offer this as a standard option. You have the ability to enter keywords or specific sites you don’t want your child to visit. This will help you to prevent those sites you don’t want your children to visit from coming up.

2. When children are alone they’re likely to visit sites they wouldn’t otherwise visit. So it’s important you don’t allow your children to take a computer to their room. It’s better to have the computer in a location where the family spends a lot of time.

3. Time restrictions also help to prevent your children from visiting those sites. It’s a good idea to have it turned off no later than 9 pm. When they have short amounts of time online they won’t have the time to search and stumble upon those sites.

4. Communicate with your children on a regular basis and make sure they understand how dangerous it is to talk to people they don’t know online and in chat rooms. Make sure they understand certain things are illegal and could get them in serious trouble.

Schools are using the internet for research more and more and are even shying away from the library resources. Some schools at the middle school and high school levels are starting to give children computers to take home with them.

No matter where the computer comes from you need to find ways to protect your children. The internet, your local library, and your child’s school will be a wealth of information, so make sure you find ways to protect your children so nothing bad happens to them.

School is Back in Session

School starts back up tomorrow and needless to say, I’m happy about that. I think the boys have spent way too much time together as they are beginning to argue more and more each day. LOL

Since they’ll be in school for most of the waking hours they won’t be together and that will be a huge help for their attitudes. They’ll go back to a regular routine again and that will be wonderful. It’s time for it to happen. They have been out for nearly three weeks and it’s long enough.

Josh will have two new classes starting tomorrow and I’m looking forward to hearing all about those classes and how his day went. Chris on the other hand will have three new classes and he’s really nervous. He’ll have PE, Social Studies, and Marketing along with Math this semester. I’m looking forward to hearing about these classes as well.

So I pray my boys have a good day at school tomorrow and that all goes well and in their favor. God is on their side and he’ll help them get through the day with a positive attitude and with success. Here’s to a great day boyletts!

Spending Time With Our Boys!

Spending time with your family is important. Studies show the more time you spend with your children, the less likely you are to have children that get into trouble, do drugs, and other things. Some people question this study, but I would have to say it’s pretty close to the truth.

My husband and I spend a lot of time with our boys. We go to as many sporting activities as possible and we talk to them all the time. We’ve been really luck to be able to go to all of the away games with the exception of one and we go to all of the home games. We play the Xbox or Wii with the boys and we talk before, during, and after dinner. We also help with homework and whatever else needs to be done.

Spending time with our boys means a lot to us and we wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s very important to us and something we look forward to each day. I know our boys feel the same way as well. I know this because of a comment our oldest made a few weeks ago. This is what he said.

“Mom, I always know you and dad are at my games because I can hear you.” I asked him if that was ok and he said, “Yes I love it because I’m one of the few kids that is lucky enough to have parents that go to the games.”

Boy I’ll tell you what. As a mom that melted my heart. I felt like I was on top of the world. I knew all of our hard work and dedication to our boys was paying off. They saw what we did and what we gave up and they appreciated it. I loved it!

So to end this post, I just want to say how much I love my boys and my husband. They are my life and they are why I do what I do each and every day! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!

A Blog Challenge is in Progress

The first weekend of 2011 is almost in the history books and I must say it’s been a good one. We spent time with family, went to church, and I set my goals for the year. This is going to be a great year and I’m excited about everything it has in store for me.

School will be starting on January 10th and I’m very excited about it. It’s been two weeks since the boys were out for Christmas break and it’s time for them to get back to a routine again. Chris’ schedule will completely change as he has a block schedule where he only has four classes a day. Josh will also change, but not as much as Chris. Josh will only change two classes. He’ll be in Art and Cooking now.

I’m doing a blog challenge this month and I’m very excited about that. Last month I made a post every single day and it was just wonderful. I created a calendar that told me what to post about and that was a big help. There were days where I didn’t use the topic I had on the calendar, but that’s ok. It was pretty much there just in case I needed it. Now I feel comfortable participating in a blog challenge due to that calendar.

I’m really excited about this year and what it stands for. I just know it’s going to be a great year, full of accomplishments and wonderful things. I hope you’re just as excited as I am about it.
