Our JV Boy!

Saturday was an awesome day. Not only was it Kevin’s birthday, but it was also the very first time Chris played JV football. Even though KW lost 14-26, it was the best game Chris has ever played. The majority of the game he play on the offense and was on the kick return team. Both positions are somewhat new to Chris but that didn’t stop him from doing as the coach said and following through like he was supposed to.

Chris made a number of awesome plays, he blocked just like he should, and he protected his quarterback as planned. While he played on the kick return team he blocked the other players so they couldn’t get to his ball carrier. It was picture perfect!

With minutes left in the game they put Chris in on the defense which is the position he loves to play. If the other team wouldn’t have sat on the ball that last play Chris would have sacked their quarterback because he was inches away from getting to him.

One of Chris’ favorite plays is one the coach says is just for him. He rolls to the left or right to throw the other team off and to get a player that may otherwise not be blocked. He is really good at this play and so he is the only one that does it. Below are pictures of some awesome plays Chris had during the JV game.

Chris, dad and I are so proud of you. You’ve worked hard over the years and it’s starting to pay off. Keep up the hard work because it will continue to work in your favor. Don’t forget the Bible verse Philippians 4:13. “I can have all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

We’re proud of you and we love you!!!!

Bug Check

We came up to the mountain last night to do some camping. It’s perfect up here this time of year. Usually it’s between 15 and 20 degrees cooler on the mountain so it’s a great way to escape the heat during the summer.

We were sitting around the camp fire laughing and having a good time when a bug came along and freaked us out. He was huge and made a strange sound. After he came to visit each one of us we decided to put the fire out and go inside the camp trailer. LOL

Once we got inside we found a huge black bug on the floor in the trailer so one of our son’s came to the rescue and got him out. He loves bugs so it was all good to him. Hehehe

So once we got him out things were good. We stayed up for a bit and then decided to go to bed. Kevin and I were in bed waiting on the boys to finish up. All the lights were off except for the one in their area. The next thing we know one of the boys jumps out of bed and starts jumping up and down making strange sounds. Needless to say it was funny and we were all laughing.

What ended up happening was a bug decided to come into bed with him. So once again the bug was removed and all was well. Well not until three bug checks were done. Sleeping bag, bed, blanket, pillow, everything had to be checked.

It’s the funny things we have happen that make camping trips like this fun and memorable. More than likely it will be a long time before we forget the bug check story and that camping trip. LOL

Now it’s about Chris

During that same camping trip I mentioned yesterday, I could just tell my oldest wanted to have a blog post written about him too. He didn’t flat come out and say it, but a mom just knows. Hehehe

This post is all about my oldest son Chris. He’s 15 years old and he’s a wonderful kid. He was born three weeks early but the doctor did a gestational age test on him and he was actually two weeks late. He’s been a big boy all of his life but that hasn’t stopped him from doing what he enjoys. He loves to play football and basketball. He also likes track but had to stop due to a back injury.

He’s a very busy kid. He lifts weights and works out with the football team three days a week during the summer. He does a lot of work for a very nice lady down the street, he’s learned to long board (that’s a long skate board), and he enjoys being with his friends. He’s always on the go, but is a typical teenager in that he sleeps a good portion of the day away. LOL

He’s very helpful and strong which makes it nice when we need something heavy moved. He’s always willing to help no matter what you need or want him to do. Those are wonderful qualities that any mom would be proud to say her child has and it makes me happy to say my son has them. :) I love you Chris!

It’s all about Josh

We’re doing some camping this weekend to have some down time so I decided to write some blog posts. I asked my family what I should write about and my youngest one said, “write one about me”. LOL So here I go.

What do I say about Josh? Josh is my youngest and he’s just three short months away from officially being a teenager. Lately I’ve really been asking myself where the time has gone? I just can’t believe my baby is almost a teenager.

Josh was born 5 weeks early and he started out his life on a breathing machine. We spent two weeks in Denver at Presbyterian St Luke’s hospital. Those people over there were just awesome. They took good care of Josh and us too. Once he overcame the problem of immature lungs, he was off and running. He spent the first 6 weeks of his life in preemie clothes, but that was the end of that. He would be taller than his older brother at all checks. One I remember specifically is the three year check up. Chris was 3 ft tall at that visit while Josh came in at 3 ft 1 1/2 in. If the doctors are correct, Josh will be 6 ft 3 in.

Back to present time, Josh is a happy and tall 7th grader. He enjoys playing basketball and doing track. He struggles with school, but things changed when he went into junior high in 6th grade. I don’t know if it had to do with the IEP we did with all of his teachers or if it’s a maturity thing. Nonetheless, he’s improving and that’s what counts the most.

Josh is an awesome kid and I’m so happy to call him mine. He’s pleasant and caring and those are wonderful traits. I love you Josh!

Another Camping Trip

We went camping at the lake this last weekend and I’ll tell you, we had a blast. It was nice weather and we had a great time with the boys and Kevin’s brother’s family.

We went out Friday night and came back on Sunday. The majority of the time was spent talking and fishing. On Sunday we spent most of the day on a boat and needless to say it was a lot of fun. We spent the morning fishing and then the afternoon we went to the canyon and around the water looking around and enjoying the water.

Fishing this time was a lot better then it was when we went over Father’s Day. Chris caught three fish, Josh caught two fish, Kevin caught two fish, and I caught one fish. Here is the information on each of them.

Chris

13 ounces and 1 foot
8 ounces and 11 inches
1 pound and 13 inches

Josh

1 pound 4 ounces and 14 ½ inches
13 ounces and 13 inches

Kevin

1 pound 6 ounces and 16 ½ inches
1 pound 5 ounces and 15 inches

Corrie

1 pound 4 ounces and 14 ½ inches

Needless to say the fish we caught this time were pretty good in size. Several of them put up a huge fight and that was wonderful. We had a great time bringing them in and the smiles were wonderful.

This weekend we’re going to the mountain for some relaxing time. It will be nice to be in the cooler air and not spend the time watching a fishing pole. LOL

Gone Fishin’

My boys have gone fishing several times since they were little, but never have caught anything, but that all changed over the Father’s Day weekend. You see Kevin took Thursday off and took the boys to the lake really early in the morning. They fished from 5:30 am until about 11 am with no avail. They decided to go out again on Friday morning and started around 5 am with still no fish to be had.

We had decided if they could find a good spot we’d stay the weekend and that’s exactly what we did. They found the perfect spot so we were there for the weekend. They fished on and off on Friday afternoon, then again on Saturday morning and part of the afternoon again. Still there were no fish for them to catch. At this point they were pretty sure there was on three fish in the lake. LOL

Saturday evening rolled around and things were about to change and it was definitely for the better. We were told the best time to fish was in the late night hours, so we decided to give it a try. Shortly before midnight this is what happened.

Shortly after midnight, this is what happened.

So as you can see it all paid off and the boys were able to get their fish. Here are the details.

Chris named his fish Richard. He weighed in at 16 oz and he was 1 foot, 6 inches.

Josh named his fish Billy Bob. He weighed in at 14 ½ oz and he was 1 foot, 2 inches.

The boys were so happy that they were able to catch the fish. They followed the entire process to the end and were happy to do it.

I’ll tell you what, Kevin and I are so proud of our boys. They wanted to catch a fish so bad and it was awesome to watch it happen.

Here are some more pictures of our Father’s Day weekend camping adventure.

Vegas Trip Day 2

Saturday was the first full day in Vegas and it was full of wonderful things to see and do. We didn’t get up too early but early enough. LOL

The first thing we did was get on the bus and we took it down towards the end of the strip where we got off and walked approximately six blocks to the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, otherwise known as Pawn Stars. We went there hoping to see the stars of the show; Old Man, Rick, Big Haws, and Chumlee. Unfortunately they only work during the week so we were not able to see and meet them.

It was an awesome feeling being in a store that is famous and on TV. We each purchased a shirt from the show and we took pictures of some things we saw in the shop that have been on the show. Those pictures are at the bottom of this post.

After our visit to the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop we took the bus back down the strip and started walking again. We saw Treasure Island, the Blue Man Group statues, and we went into the Venetian. In the Venetian we saw a live statue and we had Italian icecream (Gelato). We made several stops in shops along the way.

To end our afternoon we did a CSI experience. Needless to say that was awesome. We chose crime scene number one which took place in a living room. We saw a sofa, an entertainment stand, a coffee table, and a car that had driven through the house. We went through different stations trying to decide who killed the man in the car. It was a fun and educational experience and it’s one I’m VERY glad we did.

Our evening ended at the Rain Forest Café’ and it was the best food. The boys have never been there so the entire experience was wonderful and one we thoroughly enjoyed. We walked around a little more and then went back to the hotel. The boys road the roller coaster in Circus Circus and we walked around the AdventureDome a little more.

Saturday was a very good day and one we really enjoyed. It was nice to see all the things Vegas has to offer and see the looks the boys had with the different things we saw. Here are more pictures for you to enjoy.

Vegas Trip Day 1

Our Vegas trip was last week and we had such a great time. The boys loved every aspect of it which made it even better. We left on Friday evening and we all had the day off to prepare for the trip. Kevin and I did some grocery shopping in the morning, we ran a few errands in the afternoon, and then we sat and waiting for 2:30 to come so we could leave for the airport.

The boys were so excited and they were ready to go, but we still had to wait. When the time came to go they were even more excited. We went to the airport and had to wait again. LOL Our flight was delayed by 30 minutes which made matters worse, but we still made it.

Once we were on the plane the fun would begin. Neither of the boys had flown before so this was a new experience for them. Josh flew with Kevin and Chris flew with me. I don’t really do well with the take offs and landings so we thought it would be best to do it that way. Needless to say that was a good choice to make. Josh felt sick from the time we taxied down the run way until we were leveled out and well on our way. He felt the same way again when we prepared for landing.

When we arrived in Vegas the boys were more than excited. We checked into our room and immediately went back out. We walked down the strip to a burger joint for burgers and fries. That was a long walk since we knew exactly where we wanted to go. Once we were done with dinner we went back to Circus Circus and walked around the Adventure Dome. That was a lot of fun as well.

Here are some pictures we took that night. Make sure you come back tomorrow for Saturday’s adventures during our trip.

A Flagger at the Game, How Fun!

Last night we went to a Wyoming Calvary game and needless to say it was one that we enjoyed thoroughly. The game itself was exciting to say the least. The Cav’s usually have multiple scores by the end of the 1st quarter, but that was not the case last night. They started out struggling to score and the end of the 1st quarter left a score of seven for the Cav’s and six for the other team.

Chris really enjoys going to the games and he enjoys working them even more. He spent the majority of the last season cleaning the locker rooms after the game. Now most of you would think this is a terrible job for a 14 year old (at the time), but he really enjoyed it. It made him feel like he was a part of the team and he was able to spend time with the players. He felt important and they got to know him at the same time.

Well this season is no different. The first game (last week) he cleaned the locker rooms and really enjoyed it. This game he was able to run the flags on the field, throw out prizes to the crowd, and clean the locker rooms. Last night was an awesome night for Chris and one I’m sure he won’t forget for a long time. Below are a few pictures and a video.

Tournament Week, Final Day

Day three of the tournament was the end of the road for all of the teams involved. Josh’s team was playing for 1st or 2nd place when they played today. They played a very good game. They had a lot of good shots, good plays, and they had a lot of fun. In the end they came out in 2nd place.

It was fun to watch and it was wonderful to see Josh play. He’s improved so much this year and he’s had such a good time. He loves to play basketball and it showed with the scores he’s made, the rebounds, and the assists. All of which helped lead his team to the top where they placed 2nd in the city. It was an awesome season and one I’m so glad I got to see.

Now we’re off and running with track and he’s just as excited to participate in this sport. He in the beginning stages of track so he doesn’t know what he will do, but he’ll decide soon. His first meet in next Saturday and I can’t wait to watch him do is events. So here we go again. :)
