Tips for Setting Frugal Goals for 2012

If you’re struggling to make ends meet or if you want to set a goal to take a vacation in 2012 you may need to consider doing to frugal living in order for it to happen.

Setting frugal goals is a wonderful way to spend less and have more and the New Year is the perfect time to make that happen. There are a number of things you can do to make it happen, but it’s best to start now so you’ll know exactly what to do to make it happen. Here are a few suggestions to help you set the frugal goals for 2012.

I would say the area you’ll see the most savings when it comes to living frugally has to be at the grocery store. An easy way to save at the store is to purchase generic items whenever possible. Now you make find that’s not always possible or you may not like the generic item and if that’s the case you’ll need to purchase name brand, but if you can’t taste the difference, you should do it. For example, we don’t like generic cheese, but we don’t have a problem with generic soup when it’s used in a meal and not a stand alone item.

Another way to save money at the store is to use coupons. Now you must be careful on this because there may be times when you have a coupon for the name brand product, but if the price isn’t lower with the coupon and you don’t mind a generic, you need to go that route. You’ll need to pay close attention to the prices and quantities or you’ll end up spending more than what is necessary. Read the rest of this entry »

There are so many diets out there you may not know which one to go with. It’s a difficult decision to make, so you need to decide what will work for you. Not every diet will work for every person.

You should also consult your doctor when it comes to diets mainly because you may find certain diets aren’t good with medicines or conditions you may have. Your doctor may also be able to suggest a diet that will work better for your needs and health.

Sticking to a diet can be difficult at times. It’s best to find someone to help you when you have tough times. You will have tough times and in the beginning you may find you have more tough times than easy times. That’s why it’s important to find someone that is willing to help you. A Routine That Needs to Change

Routines are good for families, but what do you do when the routine you have becomes a problem in your life? That’s what we’re going through right now.

You see, every other Friday we go grocery shopping. Now that’s not the routine we need to break. LOL The problem is dinner on that Friday. We general go grocery shopping as soon as Kevin gets off work and then we catch something out after we’re done.

Since Weight Watcher’s changed their plans, we need to cut back on the carbs we take in each day. So this means it’s almost impossible to go out to eat anymore. So we need to figure out what to do to make it work for dinner on those days when we go grocery shopping.

So what are the options we have? Well we could eat before we go shopping, but that puts us getting a late start on the shopping that already takes an hour and a half to two hours to complete. Another option is to eat after we’re done, but that puts us eating late and that’s not good either. So what other option do we have? Well we could change the day we shop to Saturday and then we wouldn’t be affected any longer.

So the thinking begins. Tomorrow is the big day so we must decide before the evening arrives so we know what the plan is for the evening and the weekend. I know we can make it work no matter what route we decide to take.

Diet’s are Hard, but Worth It

It’s really difficult getting back on a diet after you’ve been off of it for a little while, but it can be done if you set your mind to it. This is where we’re at right now. We basically went off of the Weight Watcher’s diet right before we went to Hawaii. Needless to say that was a bad thing.

We both put weight on and that’s not what we wanted to have happen. Now we’re back on track, but it’s difficult. Working out is hard to do and seeing where we were before makes it even more difficult.

We’re including the boys in what we do and that’s been good as well. They do the workouts on the Wii and enjoy it. They also eat the same foods as us. This will help them to stay fit right along side of us, so it’s all good.

So here’s to another week, full of food that’s good for us and exercise that gives us more energy and helps us lose weight. Let’s do it!!

It’s Friday, Right?

Wow, I can’t believe it’s Friday already. Where has the week gone? I’ve already accomplished a lot in 2011 which can only mean good things. I’ve already accomplished one of my goals and that’s an awesome feeling. A number of my goals won’t be accomplished until the end of the year due to the fact that they’re monthly goals.

I feel so good about things right now. I know that things are falling into place and if I listen to God I will reach the goals I have set out to reach. I need to have faith in him and let him guide the way. It’s just like the picture I posted on Wednesday. We’re a household of faith and that’s all it takes to reach your goals and dreams.

I’m going to continue to work my plan and reach my goals. I know once I achieve my goals, things will be wonderful. I’ll grow as a person and a business owner and that’s what I want to do.

A Blog Challenge is in Progress

The first weekend of 2011 is almost in the history books and I must say it’s been a good one. We spent time with family, went to church, and I set my goals for the year. This is going to be a great year and I’m excited about everything it has in store for me.

School will be starting on January 10th and I’m very excited about it. It’s been two weeks since the boys were out for Christmas break and it’s time for them to get back to a routine again. Chris’ schedule will completely change as he has a block schedule where he only has four classes a day. Josh will also change, but not as much as Chris. Josh will only change two classes. He’ll be in Art and Cooking now.

I’m doing a blog challenge this month and I’m very excited about that. Last month I made a post every single day and it was just wonderful. I created a calendar that told me what to post about and that was a big help. There were days where I didn’t use the topic I had on the calendar, but that’s ok. It was pretty much there just in case I needed it. Now I feel comfortable participating in a blog challenge due to that calendar.

I’m really excited about this year and what it stands for. I just know it’s going to be a great year, full of accomplishments and wonderful things. I hope you’re just as excited as I am about it.
