Camping Withdrawals Again… How we’re going to get through it!

It’s the goofy and the funny things in life that make it worth it all. It’s been seven months since we last took the trailer to the lake. Needless to say we’re all having withdrawals. We want to get back out and either go to the lake or the mountain, but it’s still too cold. There is still snow on the ground on the mountain and the temperatures just aren’t warm enough to take it back out yet.

So we decided to help us make it through another month or so we’re going to have lunch in the trailer today. We need to go check on it anyway and we want to put the new mattress on the bed, so it’s the perfect time to go check it out. So we’re going to stop and get Blimpies and head on out to the place it’s stored at to see how it is.

While it won’t be the same, it will still be nice to go see it and sit inside it. Funny I know, but hopefully it will help us get through the next month or so. We’re hoping to take it out the first part of May, but it will depend on the lovely Wyoming weather. Hahaha!

Halloween Memories in April

I ran into some fun Halloween pictures that brought back some fun memories. I’m afraid my boys are getting to a point where it’s going to be a thing of the past for a while, so all I have is the pictures for now. I’m sure after a few years they’ll get back into it again, but that’s not for sure either. LOL I hope that’s not the case because there are so many fun Halloween Costumes available right now. There are the traditional costumes like clowns, jailbirds, and singers, but there are also some that are a lot more fun.

Check out these cute pictures I found while I was looking though some images on my computer the other day. They had such a good time coming up with these costumes and then going trick or treating that night. They came home with smiles on their faces and lots of candy in their bags.

My boys are big enough now to where they have to wear Adult Halloween Costumes now, which may or may not be a good thing. I’ve found a site that offers some fun costumes for them to consider. I found the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters, a purple grape costume that reminds me of the Fruit of the Loom guys LOL, and I found a Whoopie Cushion costume which are all costumes I think they’d be interested in, so needless to say when Halloween comes around again, we’ll be checking out this site for sure. :)

Live your Life for YOU!

We all have things we enjoy in life. Things like the clothes we wear, the way we style our hair, and the foods we eat. Depending on what it is they may even represent who we are and what we enjoy. It’s those things that make other recognize us.

Making changes to those things is ok as long as the changes are good. It’s not good if you make changes so others will be happy or to show others we can be different. If you want to be happy in life, you must be happy with the way you look and feel.

When I was a teenager I loved flowers. I had shirts that had flowers all over them and I even had hats that I wore that either had flowers on them or they had a flower in the front. I got this style of clothing from a television show that was popular in the late 80’s and early 90’s. I loved the style and so I wore it whenever I could. That type of change is ok because it’s what I wanted and it made me happy.

Creating a style all of your own is important because it shows who you are. One way to create that style is to create foods you enjoy. Now I’ll tell you one of my most favorite meals is one that my husband makes from scratch. It’s homemade chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and country gravy. He makes the chicken fried steak from scratch and the mashed potatoes are real. He knows exactly how to create the seasons used on the chicken fried steak to make it perfect every time.

Another favorite that I have is deserts. I love icecream and cheesecake. Icecream can be bought at the store, but cheesecake is different. You can get a few flavors in the store, but not everything. More than likely the store won’t have a sampler, a strawberry, or a white chocolate. I go to Dairy Queen to get my favorite icecream, when I’m looking for a special cheesecake I go to Cheesecake.com.

The most important thing in life is to remember to do what you enjoy and create your style based on your needs and wants. Don’t do something for someone else. Don’t wear clothes to make others happy and when it comes to what you eat, you need to eat what you like and what you enjoy. Don’t live your life based on lies and based on others. Live your life the way you want. Live your life for YOU!

Track Season 2012

Josh starts track on Monday and I’m looking forward to it. He did it last year for the first time as a middle schooler and was getting his feet wet. He did a number of different field events, but his best event had to do with running.

Josh is tall and skinny and he’s built to run. Years ago when both the boys were in elementary school they would race to do the door and the majority of the time Josh would beat his brother. Now if you asked Chris he would say he let Josh win and sometimes I think that may have been true, but I also think because of Josh’s long legs he would have won anyway.

Josh does better with the longer races because he has a chance to get his thoughts together before it’s time to get started. He can do the shorter races like the 50 meter dash and the 100 meter dash, but the 400 meter dash and the 800 meter run are better. Last year he had a number of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places to his name and the majority of those were from the longer races.

I’m looking forward to watching Josh run in the races and to see how much he’s learned and improved since last season. I know he’ll do better this year and I’m confident he’ll bring home more 1st place ribbons.

Go Josh!!

Change is not a bad thing!

Change can be hard at times, but if you think about it we go through changes every day. If you work a job or own a business things may change day to day or month to month depending on the season or type you have. You also may see changes around your home such as a new vehicle, a paint color, or a new appliance. While we may think change is difficult, we must remember it’s the way it needs to be. If things were always the same it would be boring and we wouldn’t like life.

I have found that change can be very refreshing and it’s something to look forward to and enjoy. One of the biggest changes I’ve made recently comes with my hair. I went from being brown to copper. I cut about 5 inches off the back and 1 inch off the front to get an extreme A line. I love my new style, but it’s hard to adjust to it because I’m not familiar with styling it that way. It takes time, but I’ll get it and once that happens I’ll love my hair style even more. Here are some before and after pictures.

When change happens in your life, don’t be scared. Let it happen and learn from the changes. You’ll find over time you’ll adapt to the changes and it won’t be that bad.

Spring is Finally Here

I believe spring is finally here. I just looked at the weather for the next 10 days and the highs are supposed to be in the 60’s and 70’s the entire time. Yay! I’m so glad. I hate winter because it’s cold, the roads are terrible to drive in, and there are days when the sun doesn’t come out.

Spring time means it’s closer to summer and that means we can go camping again. We had such a great time camping last summer and we just can’t wait to do it again. We’re planning to go to the lake and the mountain and it’s going to be so much fun.

We bought a new generator and it’s so much quieter. It won’t be embarrassing to run it early in the morning when we want to use the microwave or if we need to plug in the cell phones. It won’t be terrible if we run it in the morning if we need to turn the heat on for a bit. It’s perfect!

I’m also looking forward to the green grass, the leaves on the trees, and the flowers blooming. Last summer we planted a lilac bush because they’re my favorite and I’m praying it comes back this year. In our old house we had a huge lilac bush that lined the driveway and I truly miss that. The smell is wonderful and the flowers were just beautiful. I just hope we’ll have that again with this new one.

Well, with all of that said, I welcome spring and I’m looking forward to each day because it brings warmer temperatures and the beauty’s it has to offer. Yay spring!!

Save Money with Bountiful Baskets

In the winter time it’s hard to find fresh fruits and vegetables. Our family loves fruits and vegetables so it’s terrible when we can’t find them. Sometimes you can find fruits like bananas, strawberries, and oranges, but they don’t taste the same because they’re not really in season.

Another problem that comes with buying fruits and vegetables is the cost. They can be so expensive to purchase and the bad thing is the better quality they are, the more expensive they will be, which makes it hard to buy them. It’s important to have these in your daily diet, so we do our best to keep them in the house as often as possible.

A number of months ago we were told about a way to get fruits and vegetables a reasonable price. After a few days of consideration we decided to give it a try. We figured the worst that could happen is we wouldn’t like it and that would be the end of it. Needless to say seven months later we’re still ordering these baskets and referring our friends and family as well.

The program we purchase our fruits and vegetables through is called Bountiful Baskets and it’s an awesome co-op that’s completely volunteer based. There are not contracts to sign, no catch, and no obligation. That’s what makes it perfect!

The first time you order your total for one basket will cost $19.50 and that covers the cost of the fruits and vegetables and then the cost to purchase new baskets for the location to use for your items. Once that first order is done, you’ll pay $16.50 for each basket.

They also offer organic baskets, breads, and then other items depending on the time of the month and the season. The items you can purchase are all reasonable in price and the quality is great.

Here are some pictures of the basket we got last week. This week we’re going to volunteer to help get the baskets ready. I’m pretty excited to do that as I’ve met a number of people that attend the location we’re going to. They seem very nice and eager to help.

If you find you’re spending too much on fruits and vegetables or you can’t get good quality fruits and vegetables in your location, you should consider checking into Bountiful Baskets to see if they’re offered in your location. You won’t be sorry you did when you get enjoy the fruits and vegetables we have in our home.

Tell me Thursday – February 16

On Tuesday Josh played the basketball game of his life. His team was playing in the final tournament game of the season and the end result would determine who took 3rd place and who took 4th place.

The score went back and forth for the majority of the game, but the last four minutes of the game is where it got interesting. You see Josh got the ball and shot it and got a three pointer for it. Less than a minute later Josh ended up with the ball again and did a layup with the end result being 2 points. About a minute later Josh stole the ball from a player and went down court. He tried for the three pointer again and then was fouled. Because he was going for a three point shot, he was given three free throws. He ended up with one point, which made his final score for the game six points. The last two minutes of the game showed Josh’s team was the strong of the two and with four more points scored they won the game and took third place in the county.

Josh’s team had an outstanding season and I’m so glad we were able to watch the games. Josh excelled each day and it’s so great to see him improve. His coach was fantastic and he taught these kids so much.

Here’s the picture again, just in case you missed it.

You had a great season Josh and I’m so proud of you. I love you so much!!

Wordless Wednesday – February 15

Christmas Decorating with the Boys!!

Christmas is a great time of year for everyone, but it’s the best for children. I love putting the tree up, decorating it and putting decorations up throughout the house. It makes the house look beautiful and cheery. Now that I have kids there is something different about the decorations. Our boys are 15 and 13, so they’re old enough to do the decorating themselves and that is awesome to watch. I love to see what they think because in my eyes it’s perfect no matter what they do.

This year we put our tree up on Friday afternoon because Chris had to work. The family room and living room look awesome. They did a great job!

Saturday morning Kevin, Chris, and Josh went to my mother-in-laws house to help her put up her village. They did an awesome job as you can see in the picture below.

Saturday afternoon Josh went to my mom’s house to help her, my niece Shai, and my nephew Caalab decorate the tree and house. Chris had to work so he was not able to go. They did a great job there too as you can see from the pictures.

I love this time of year and when I see my boys doing what they think is perfect, it’s even better. My boys make this time of year awesome and I’m so glad God gave them to me. Love you Kevin, Chris, and Josh!!
